Tropical fruits such as pineapples and mangoes are available in European supermarkets at all times, but their origin is often unclear. And this while people on the plantations in producing countries such as the Philippines often work under dire conditions.

In order to campaign on the illicit working conditions and maltreatment of workers in various European countries, a conclusive investigation of the supply chain from these plantations to the end product had to be delivered.

Statistical import data as well as company profiles of the main players where used for this analysis. Interviews of experts by telephone and supermarket visits in various European countries completed the picture.
